When we think of fillers, we usually think of correcting lines and wrinkles on the face.  Instead of looking in the mirror at your face…look down at your hands.  Like our faces, our hands are affected by the “hands” of time.  As we age, our hands become less full and the volume diminishes.  Also, sun damage can leave our hands wrinkled, crepey, and discolored.  Well now there’s a solution!  The filler, Radiesse, can be injected into hands to help fill diminished areas and rebuild you own collagen.  Radiesse combined with other maintenance procedures can help bring your hands back to the youthful appearance you desire.

Radiesse is a dermal filler that instantly plumps and firms area’s that have diminished in volume.  Radiesse also stimulates your body’s natural collagen to help boost the effect of the filler itself.  It is often used in areas on the face to fill deep lines and wrinkles, but physicians are now using Radiesse to add volume to the hands.

If you’re not quite ready for a surgical procedure on your face, I would like to inform you about an alternative to face lift surgery.  I (Dr. Yee) can use a combination of Botox and dermal fillers to create results similar to that of a face lift.  The dermal fillers include; Juvaderm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Radiesse, Restylane, Scupltra, and Perlane.  The liquid face lift consists of the combination of injections along with specialized injection techniques to help rejuvenate the face.  The liquid face lift (Botox and Fillers) lifts the entire face by lifting individual areas while reducing fine lines and wrinkles.  By lifting the face and reducing wrinkles, this creates an overall youthful, rested appearance.

The specific areas targeted are the upper, mid, and lower areas of the face.  In the upper area, the injections help lift the eyelids and diminish bags under the eyes.  In the mid area, the cheeks are plumped creating a more voluminous look.  In the lower area, the corners of the mouth and jowls are lifted.  When these areas are treated in the same office visit, the outcome is the closest you can get to surgical results.

When you come in for your appointment, your I (Dr. Yee) will consider many factors to determine if you are a liquid face lift candidate.  First, I will examine the current state of your face. This examination includes; loss of collagen, skin elasticity, sun damage, personal characteristics, and skin type.  If you are a candidate, the office procedure can last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.  Most patients are able to see immediate results.  Like all injections, you may have slight bruising, swelling, or discomfort at the injection site.  These side effects should disappear shortly and a fresh, rejuvenated face will appear!

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to inform you about an injection we offer here in the Cosmetic and Laser Surgery Center.  This particular injection is called Sculptra and it is used to create fullness and restore volume in the face.  Sculptra is injected just below the skin and is used to treat areas of the face where there is visible loss of fat.  Sculptra will, over time,  gradually increase fullness of the face in the areas treated restoring the youthful volume lost over time.

Multiple treatments may be needed to acheive the desired look and the number of treatments differ for each individual.  It may only require 3 treatments in one person and up to 5 in another person.  Typically, there is a 6 week time frame between each injection session.

The lasting results of Sculptra also varies from person to person.  Some patients’ results can last up to two to three years, but touch up injections may be needed to keep the results fresh.  Like other injections, Sculptra may cause bleeding, bruising, redness, and swelling at the injection site.

If you haven’t heard yet, there is a new FDA approved injectable on the market.  Similar to Botox, Dysport is an injectable used to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing muscles in the face.  Dyspot can also be used to treat excess sweating under the arms.  Like any other injection, there are mild side effects with Dysport.  You may experience soreness where injected and slight bruising.  The makers of Dysport urge you not be injected if you are pregnant, breast feeding, or have any type of neuromuscular disease.
