Remove your double chin with Kybella™ (deoxycholic acid)

kybellaThe pesky double chin! Caused by genetics, aging, weight gain or a combination of the three. Many people have tried chin exercises, creams, and oils, and have seen little to no results, until now. Kybella (deoxycholic acid) is a new FDA approved treatment to help dissolve moderate-to-severe fat below the chin.

About Kybella™

Kybella is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of their chin. It is the first and only FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment that dissolves fat and improves the appearance of a double chin (submental fat).

The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

before/after kybellaBefore and after Kybella treatment

Kybella can improve the appearance of a double chin for a more contoured look.

The Treatment Process

You and Dr. Yee will customize your Kybella treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. Dr. Yee will give you a series of injections at each treatment session, which are spaced a month or more apart. A patient can start to see visible contouring in two to four treatments and can have up to six treatments administered.

A Non-Invasive Technique

Patients can eliminate the appearance of a double chin in only two to six visits with Kybella.

Risk and Benefits of Kybella™

Like any injectable, treatment with Kybella carries a low risk of infection. The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. For a full list of possible side effects, contact our office or schedule a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a good fit?

Kybella treatments are appropriate for those with fullness in the neck below the chin. Kybella does not tighten skin so the best candidates have younger skin with higher elasticity. In the event that skin has low elasticity, patients may find the need for skin tightening procedures post Kybella treatment.

How many rounds of treatment are needed?

Kybella treatment typically lasts 15 minutes per session and consists of 12-20 injections into targeted locations under the chin. The best results are achieved after two to four treatments.

Can Kybella help tighten skin?

Kybella does not tighten the skin. It eliminates fat cells in the area which causes a slimming effect.

Does Kybella work in other areas of the body?

Kybella is not currently approved for use in other areas of the body.

How long is the recovery?

Kybella is a non-invasive procedure with a relatively fast recovery time. Patients may experience some inflammation at the injection sites. Typical recovery time is two to three days.
