Get Subtle Anti-aging Effects with Sculptra® Aesthetic

If you would like to restore youthful-looking fullness and smoothness to your face without surgery, Sculptra® Aesthetic may be a wonderful option. Little Rock plastic surgeon Dr. Suzanne Yee offers this injectable skin treatment that differs from other dermal fillers in some important ways. Instead of merely plumping the skin, Sculptra® Aesthetic promotes the production of collagen for subtle, gradual rejuvenation. A series of approximately three injections over the course of a few months produces effects that can last more than two years. Many patients love how this biocompatible product gives them natural-looking results that are incredibly discreet. To learn more, schedule a personal consultation with Dr. Yee.

About Sculptra® Aesthetic

One of the newest injectable skin treatments available in the United States, Sculptra® Aesthetic is made from poly-L-lactic acid, which has been used for decades in a variety of surgical products. It is manufactured in a laboratory and contains no animal components, so no allergy testing is required prior to treatment. Widely used in Europe for over fifteen years under the brand name New-Fill, Sculptra® Aesthetic was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2009. A single treatment with Sculptra® Aesthetic usually takes less than an hour. Dr. Yee first applies a topical anesthetic to the treatment area and then uses ultra-fine needles to place the product deep into the skin. The number of treatments, which are spaced four to six weeks apart, will depend on how much collagen has been lost. Eventually, the treatment substance is absorbed naturally by the body. Once-a-year maintenance treatment is usually recommended.

Sculptra® Aesthetic is used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds. It is suitable to treat nasolabial folds (smile lines) between the nose and mouth, lines framing your mouth (marionette lines), and wrinkles in the chin. It is not intended for use in the forehead, eye area, or lips.

Risks

All injectable skin treatments have similar side effects that can include bruising, discomfort, redness, bleeding, itching, and swelling at the injection site. Like other synthetic wrinkle fillers, Sculptra® Aesthetic may produce small, temporary bumps under the skin that can be felt when you press on the area. In rare cases, larger lumps, with or without skin discoloration or redness, can occur. You can minimize your risks and increase good outcomes by getting your treatment done by a skilled practitioner in a doctor’s office with an FDA-approved filler. Although injectable skin treatments are being offered in spas, hotels, and homes, there is no way to guarantee their sterility and authenticity in these non-medical settings—or the experience of the provider.

Benefits

Longer-lasting effects that appear gradually are some of the most notable benefits of Sculptra® Aesthetic. As a collagen stimulator, Sculptra® Aesthetic works deep in the skin to reinforce its structure and produce a more refined, youthful-looking appearance over time. Results are incredibly understated; patients do not look as if they had “work done.” Treatment is quick and simple, without involving lasers, chemicals, or incisions. Because the main ingredient in Sculptra® Aesthetic has been used for so long, it is predictable and known to have an extremely high safety record.
