Many women have undergone breast augmentation surgery all over the world in order to enhance their curves and to improve their overall body shape. Even when the level of enlargement is subtle, breast augmentation surgery can have dramatic results. There are a number of different factors that come into play when you get breast implants, and our Little Rock, Arkansas plastic surgeon and the team here would like to go over one such factor right now--breast implants.

There are two types of breast implants that are most commonly used for breast augmentation in the United States: silicone breast implants and saline breast implants. Let’s take a look at each of these breast implant types.

Silicone Breast Implants

Silicone breast implants were at one time removed from the domestic market due to health concerns but were then made available again in 2006 after a period of safety testing and clinical trials. These kinds of breast implants are made of a silicone shell that is filled with a silicone gel. In general, silicone breast implants provide a more natural look and feel.

Saline Breast Implants

Saline breast implants are the other option available for Little Rock, Arkansas breast augmentation surgery. Saline breast implants are filled with a safe saline solution. While they may not be quite as natural looking and natural feeling as silicone breast implants, they are soft and durable and still provide exceptional results. In addition, saline breast implants are safer than silicone breast implants if an implant suffers a puncture, leak, or rupture.

Which Breast Implants Are Best for You?

The answer, as you can imagine, is that we cannot tell over the internet. The size of the breast implants, the incision sites, your own body, and other factors will help determine if silicone breast implants or saline breast implants are better suited to meet your needs.
