Having a round, shapely backside can work wonders for your appearance. One of the best ways to achieve this is the Brazilian butt lift, which combines liposuction with fat injections. Using excess body fat from one part of your body, you can add greater roundness and appealing curves to your buttocks.

Good results from Brazilian butt lift surgery require a good recovery process. With that in mind, Little Rock, AR plastic surgeon Dr. Suzanne Yee would like to go over the basics of healing after a Brazilian butt lift is performed.

How Much Time Should I Take Off from Work?

Generally speaking, Brazilian butt lift patients should take about a week to 10 days off from work. This will give them ample time to heal so they can return to their job without experiencing serious side effects or discomfort.

If you work in a physically demanding job, you may need to take more time off just to ensure you body isn’t adversely affected by your normal work duties. We can discuss time off and other matters during the consultation process.

Common Side Effects After Brazilian Butt Lift

Some common side effects after undergoing Brazilian butt lift include:

Be Careful How You Sit After a Brazilian Butt Lift

After undergoing a Brazilian butt lift, it’s important that you avoid sitting directly on your buttocks. Not only can this cause pain and discomfort, it can also have a negative impact on the results of your surgery.

Rather than sitting directly on your butt, it’s a good idea to sit on your thighs. Rest some pillows under your thighs so your weight is distributed forward rather than on your rump. This allows the butt to remain off the surface you’re sitting on.

When Can I Sit Normally Again?

Generally speaking, patients will need to sit on their thighs for about a month, gradually returning to normal seated position after that time. Keep in mind that you will want to continue to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks until you’ve fully healed and final results are achieved.

Returning to Other Normal Activities

After about two to three weeks, most patients will be able to return to many of the activities they enjoyed before surgery. Keep in mind that like sitting, any activities that may put stress or strain on the injected fat to the buttocks should be avoided.

Check with your plastic surgeon about any activities you have questions about. This can be brought up during follow-up visits to the practice or at any time such concerns arise.
