Achieve a Toned and Attractive Midsection with a Full Tummy Tuck

Even with proper diet and exercise, excess fat and skin can still remain in the abdomen. Patients whose midsections have lost elasticity and accumulated stubborn pockets of fat can turn to Dr. Suzanne Yee for a traditional abdominoplasty, or full tummy tuck surgery, at her Little Rock, AR, practice. When performing a full tummy tuck, Dr. Yee will remove fat and tissue around the abdomen before smoothing and tightening the skin for a more youthful, attractive appearance. Benefits of a Full Tummy Tuck

Full tummy tuck surgery offers many benefits to patients, which has made it one of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed today. Most notably, a traditional abdominoplasty can:

  • Boost your self-esteem and confidence
  • Give you a firmer and sexier midsection
  • Create tighter abdominal musculature
  • Make exercise and everyday activities more comfortable
  • Allow you to wear a greater variety of clothing and feel more comfortable in a swimsuit
  • Improve dermatological health by eliminating folds of excess skin and fat that can harbor bacteria

In order to be a good candidate for tummy tuck surgery, patients should avoid tobacco use and be in good overall health while maintaining a consistent weight. During your initial consultation, Dr. Yee can review your medical records, examine your midsection, and discuss any concerns you might have to determine if a full tummy tuck procedure is appropriate for you. Depending on your unique needs and desires, she may recommend an alternative procedure such as a mini tummy tuck.

The Traditional Abdominoplasty Procedure

When undergoing a full tummy tuck, Dr. Yee will begin your procedure by administering local or general anesthesia to ensure your comfort. Next, she will create a lateral incision from hip to hip. To minimize the appearance of resulting scars, your incisions will be carefully planned prior to surgery. Dr. Yee will then remove loose skin and excess fat and tissue from the midsection. In many cases, Dr. Yee will also change the position of the naval in order to achieve a more natural-looking result. If your underlying abdominal muscles have started to sag, she can also tighten them to create a more toned appearance. Finally, Dr. Yee will pull the skin downward and remove excess tissue before suturing the area closed. The sutures will be removed after roughly two weeks, and you can begin enjoying a flatter, more taut abdominal area. An over-the-counter medication is usually sufficient to alleviate any discomfort during your recovery, and Dr. Yee can also prescribe a more powerful pain killer, if needed.
