I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Yee. She did my lower blepheroplasty surgery about a month ago. She is in a league of her own by JUST her bedside manner, alone...I would never go to anyone else for anything else especially on something of this nature where I am fixing an insecurity. She is truly the melding of an artist and surgeon. She was also super sweet and warm. She is just simply the ENTIRE package and I couldn’t be any more pleased and blessed to have her do my surgery.

I went in for surgery yesterday morning. Her staff made me feel so comfortable they are also educated and compassionate. I could not have asked for a better surgeon or nursing staff. I will never go anywhere else again for surgery. She is worth the trip. And on top of that they recommend a really nice hotel for you to stay out afterwards and we went there as well and it was really nice. You will not regret making this choice.

Candidacy for Eyelid Surgery

Patients in the Little Rock area considering eyelid surgery should first and foremost be in good general health. Certain eye conditions can disqualify patients from undergoing blepharoplasty, including chronic dry eyes and glaucoma, so it is important to discuss your health history with Dr. Yee in detail. Candidates must also be non-smokers and have realistic expectations for their results.

The Treatment Process

There are various blepharoplasty techniques we use at our Little Rock practice depending on the severity of your condition and your cosmetic goals...

Upper Blepharoplasty

Upper blepharoplasty is beneficial for those with sagging eyelids or excess skin in the region above the eye. Dr. Yee begins the procedure by creating a tiny incision in the natural crease of the upper eyelid. This strategic placement helps to reduce the appearance of post-surgical scars. Next, excess skin is trimmed away and the underlying muscles may be repositioned. Once the desired effect has been achieved, the remaining skin is lifted and sutured into place.

Lower Blepharoplasty

Lower blepharoplasty is used to address dark circles and puffy lower eyelids. After administering anesthesia, Dr. Yee creates a small incision just beneath the lower lash line. Excess fat and skin are trimmed away and muscle laxity is addressed, if needed. In some cases, pockets of fat may be redistributed to achieve a natural and more flattering look. Once your eyelid surgery is complete, Dr. Yee closes the incision with sutures.

Double Blepharoplasty

Dr. Yee is one of a few experts in the United States who performs double blepharoplasty procedures, working to ensure each patient's natural look is preserved. We begin by administering a local anesthetic to help you remain comfortable throughout the surgery. Next, Dr. Yee will make tiny incisions in the eyelids and trim surplus skin or tissue as needed. This creates a crease in the eyelid, which typically conceals the surgical incision once you have healed.

Paying for Treatment

Our Little Rock, AR, practice is happy to accept CareCredit® financing to reduce your initial out-of-pocket expenses. CareCredit allows you to make little to no interest monthly payments and better work the overall costs of plastic surgery into your budget.

Eyelid Surgery Recovery Timeline

First 48 Hours

After your procedure, you will be released from our Little Rock surgical center to begin your recovery. You will need a friend or family member to drive you home and assist you with your needs for the first day or two. Immediately following eyelid surgery, patients can expect some degree of discomfort, bruising, and swelling, but these side effects will be temporary.

Week 1

Get plenty of rest and avoid any activities that could strain your eyes such as computer use and reading. Sleep with your head elevated to improve blood flow and reduce swelling. Ice packs can also help to control inflammation and irritation. It is also important to eat a low-salt diet both before and after surgery in order to further minimize swelling. You should treat your incisions with topical healing gels and use eye drops as instructed by Dr. Yee.

Week 2

Typically, your stitches will come out after about a week and you can incorporate more activities back into your routine at this time. Patients can usually return to work and light activities at around day 10. During the second week, bruising and other side effects should begin to noticeably subside.

Blepharoplasty FAQ's

When will I see my final results?

Every patient heals differently, but most people see their final results around four to six weeks following your surgery.

How long do the effects of blepharoplasty last?

The results of blepharoplasty can vary from one patient to the next but are generally long-lasting. Upper eyelid surgery can last for a decade while lower eyelid surgery results are close to permanent.

What are the risks involved with eyelid surgery?

As with any plastic surgery, blepharoplasty comes with some chance of risk. Although rare, complications can include infection, bleeding, abnormal eyelid position, and dry eyes. Dr. Yee takes all possible measures to reduce the risks involved and ensure the best possible results.

So is blepharoplasty worth it?

Many people struggle to find nonsurgical treatments and over-the-counter products to reduce the signs of aging, only to be dissatisfied with the results. Although some of these treatments may address fine lines and wrinkles, substantial eyelid drooping can typically only be addressed using surgery. Many of our blepharoplasty patients have enjoyed better vision, self-confidence, and dramatic rejuvenation in their appearance helping them age more gracefully and live a better quality of life.
