The Mommy Makeover Recovery Timeline: What to Expect By Dr. Suzanne Yee on November 14, 2016

A patient in a compression garment after undergoing breast lift as part of a mommy makeoverAt the plastic surgery practice of Dr. Suzanne Yee, every procedure she performs is customized to meet the unique needs and goals of the individual patient. Some patients require subtle refinements of a certain area of their bodies, in which case a single procedure may suffice. In other cases, patients turn to Dr. Yee with multiple problem areas that a single procedure cannot adequately address. This is generally the case with women who have given birth and who wish to recapture their pre-pregnancy figures. It is with these women in mind that Dr. Yee offers fully customized mommy makeover plans comprising multiple procedures tailored to their unique cases.

Although there are certain procedures that are almost always included in mommy makeover plans, no two mommy makeovers are ever precisely alike. Therefore, when discussing mommy makeover recovery timelines during consultations at her Little Rock, AR plastic surgery practice, Dr. Yee takes many factors into consideration that are unique to the individual patient. As with issues such as pricing, it isn’t really possible to determine a specific recovery timeline for a mommy makeover treatment plan without first meeting with a patient and establishing what her individual plan will entail.

What will your mommy makeover recovery be like? To find out, we invite you to schedule your initial mommy makeover consultation with Dr. Suzanne Yee today.

What Factors Can Influence Mommy Makeover Recovery?

There are a number of factors that can influence the mommy makeover recovery timeline. These include:

  • The number of treatments included in the mommy makeover plan: The purpose of a mommy makeover is to rejuvenate the patient’s body, giving her a figure that more or less resembles the one she had prior to her first pregnancy. Different patients have different goals; some wish to emerge from treatment with larger breasts or flatter tummies than they’ve ever had in their lives, while others are content simply to eliminate sagging of the breasts. Depending on the patient’s needs and goals, a mommy makeover plan can be composed of as few as two or three procedures or as many as ten. Obviously, the recovery timeline associated with the former treatment plan will be shorter than that of the latter.
  • The types of procedures included in the mommy makeover and the techniques used to perform them: Procedures commonly combined in mommy makeover plans include breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty), arm lift, liposuction, thigh lift, chin liposuction, laser skin resurfacing, and buttock lift. A woman who chooses to undergo breast lift with augmentation to rejuvenate her breasts coupled with liposuction to remove fat deposits from a couple of problem areas will have a relatively short recovery time compared to a woman who undergoes most or even all of the procedures listed. Likewise, a woman who undergoes a mini tummy tuck to address a small amount of excess fat and skin below the navel will have a shorter recovery time than a woman who undergoes an extended tummy tuck, which accounts for the entire abdominal region extending around to the flanks and to the lower back.
  • The number of treatment sessions: Depending on the types of treatments included in the mommy makeover plan, it may not be possible or advisable to carry out the entire treatment plan in a single session. Therefore, there may be multiple recovery periods spread out over a period of months.
